Portrait of Stage Combat Actor – Brighton Photographer

Jon Harrison, a specialist martial arts and stage combat actor, came down from London to have his actor’s Spotlight headshots taken in my Brighton studio. Jon brought with him smallswords, rapiers, daggers and all kinds of things I’d never seen before, and it was a really interesting photoshoot.

Jon has studied acting, martial arts and stage combat and wanted a varied selection of shots for Spotlight and his new agent.

It was a fascinating photoshoot and he came away with some amazing headshot portraits, both conventional and more edgy. I have started to use a Nikon D800 for portrait headshots, and I’m really impressed with the resolution from its 36 MP sensor, and the wide tonal range available. Simply stunning. Here is the D800 combined with the 70-200 2.8 lens

So here are just a few shots from Jon’s portfolio Spotlight photoshoot.

France Cycling RnR

I decided to to take a break from being a photographer and so just spent the best part of June cycling through France with Christine, from the north coast at St Malo to Bergerac in the Dordogne – about 1200km of eating Goat’s cheese, bread and flies, and camping by rivers. Countless mosquito bites, coffees and beautiful countryside. It was fab to be away in the fresh air without always looking at my watch and rushing around, and getting some serious miles in my legs…..

Hey! And the French were lovely even though my French is more School-Infant than School-Boy.

I took my excellent little Lumix GH2 with the 14mm and 20 mm lenses – nice and light and great quality.

Now back in Brighton to tons of photography work the next couple of months with some great portraits, headshot work and commercial jobs booked in. Already my tan is fading!
