Paul Chapman Business Portrait Headshot

I’m really pleased to have made this business portrait headshot of Paul Chapman for his company profile, CV and social media.

Paul was so easy and fun to photograph. I set up in his office using my portable lighting and studio equipment and after 10 minutes we were done and dusted, with this brilliant shot.

Having a business portrait headshot taken doesn’t have to mean any disruption to your office or your diary. I come over to your business, set up somewhere out of the way and get everything ready. Then I ask you to slip over, give you a few simple clues about what to do in front of the camera – flash, bang, wallap and you’re done – a great image for your website or brochure.paul-chapman-business-portrait-headshot-brightonI am always surprised by the poor standard of the photography on the profiles of businesses and companies, whether they are based in Brighton, a little village in Sussex or the big bad city of London. Surely if you are going to include a photo of yourself or an employee then it should be a decent one – either serious or fun, as long as it is professional. I know that if I look a company’s profile and see poor photography then I do wonder about the professionalism of the people there.

Business Headshot Portraits of Cathy Glass

It’s been a mad mad couple of weeks here in Brighton with headshot portraits, actor’s headshots and business portraits, some in the studio and some on location.

Cathy is a director of the international consulting company Axialent and came into the studio for a new set of headshot portraits for their website, brochures and PR material.

Cathy was so totally lovely to photograph – here are a couple from the photography session.

American Express Corporate Headshot Portraits

As a photographer I love the challenge of making headshot portraits for high-end businesses and big companies. I often find the people I meet really impress me with their charm and warm welcomes, and so it was with American Express when they commissioned me to photograph some of their top people in their Brighton HQ.

It’s always a challenge to set up a portable studio in a meeting room as you never know how large or (usually) how small these rooms are; full of tables and chairs and white boards etc. But the lovely people at American Express found me a huge beautiful room in which to set up my location photographic studio. Actually their new offices are sensational.

With slots of 10-15 minutes per person the photographer is always going to be up against the time, but in this case my ‘models’ were just so lovely, professional and easy going. Here are my favourite shots of Keith, Vanessa, Vanessa and Adrian

As usual I used my amazing Nikon D3s with the Nikon 70-200 2.8 lens and a variety of portable flashes such as the Elinchrom Quadra and Nikon SB800s.

All the shots were processed in Lightroom 5 and retouched in Photoshop CS5.

Brighton Photographer Business Portraits – David Biddle CEO

Business and corporate portrait photography doesn’t sound like it should be the most exciting of jobs to do as a Brighton photographer but I love meeting new people (it’s one of the reasons that people photography is my favourite kind of work) and yesterday I had the distinct pleasure of meeting David Biddle who is the new CEO of CRI (UK’s leading health and social care charity). David needed a quick series of portrait headshots for a press release the next day so I set up a compact 2 light location studio at their offices here in the centre of Brighton and we were done and dusted within 15 minutes.

A big thanks to his brilliant executive assistant, Polly.

Reservoir Dogs Style Corporate Portraits Photography Brighton

I was really happy to be asked to recreate the iconic Reservoir Dogs film poster photo for a Brighton based accountancy company for the ‘About US’ page for their new App.

Mark Carr and Co deal with the entertainment industry and so it seemed appropriate to make their profile image a bit more film-like. I had searched out a suitable gritty urban location for the photography that resembled the original Reservoir Dogs photograph and took some location lighting equipment to simulate the harsh sun as seen on the poster.

It was great fun as we tried to take a few steps in the centre of Brighton without being run-over by various cars and trucks, but Mark and his team were brilliant sports and we had a most amusing hour.

While we were there Mark Carr wanted to try a couple of other shots and so just for fun at the end of the photoshoot we recreated the famous ‘gun to gun’ image (using mobile phones) and a kind-of Usual Suspects line-up.

Black and White Portrait Photography Brighton

I really like the look of this close-up headshot from my recent photoshoot with Nick Price.

Before going fully digital in 2005 I processed all my Black and White prints using a huge variety of papers I’d collected for donkey’s years. The look here reminds me of prints I used to get with Agfa’s Portriga Rapid, a warm toned chlorobromide paper that was eventually replaced due to the high level of noxious elements.

I actually still have some of this paper left, but sadly no darkroom.

Portraits for Nick Price, Futurist, Sussex

Before I met Nick Price I had never come across the term ‘Futurist’ but that’s the ace thing about being a photographer in Brighton and Sussex – such a diverse variety of people.

Nick (and I’m still hazy in this area) advises companies on the future of their businesses, a consultant but much more than that as he looks at the whole world as it relates to the business (I’m even more hazy now and might need a lie down). And he wanted a whole set of new images to populate his new website.

He was great fun to work with, a thoroughly nice guy, a brilliant mind and an excellent model. We were kindly lent the use of The Dock in Hove (big thanks to Melanie) which was perfect for a variety of locations.

I used a really simple lighting set-up which was manouvered by my assistant, and I was really happy to be able to work quickly in what was a pretty small space.

Here are just a few from the session.

Louise – Headshot Photography Brighton

After a little winter break in India your superhero Brighton Photographer is now frantically catching up with all the headshot, portrait, actors and business professionals who patiently waited for my to return from swanning about on my bike.

Here’s two shots of the delightful Louise who I photographed this weekend in my Brighton studio. Louise needed a portrait for the website of her new employers, and also just wanted some great headshots of herself.

Louise was brilliant – she confessed to hating having her photograph taken (and hadn’t for years) yet with some gentle coaching and a bit of professional skill we got some truly excellent photos.
