Portrait Headshots of Designer Leanna Williams

Leanna Williams is a lingerie designer working just outside Brighton, Sussex and has developed a new luxury range for her own company (harlowandfox.co.uk). She asked me to provide a variety of PR images and so I visited her in her beautiful home and studio for the photoshoot.

Leanna was lovely to work with and her designs are absolutely wonderful. I decided on a subtle toning for the final images which was achieved with a combination of lighting at the photo-session and also in post-processing back at my studio.

As always I used my brilliant Nikon D3s with (in these two photos) the 85 1.4 or the 24-70 2.8. Both amazing lenses.

Here are a couple of my faves from the shoot.

Portrait of Sicily Photography

A few days away from being a busy Brighton photographer to work as a photographer in Sicily (part of a ‘Portrait Of Sicily’ campaign). I managed to grab a day here and there to do some hiking, see the old towns, swim in the sea (it was 30 degrees still!) and eat some amazing food. A week of part work – part holiday.

Sicily is a beautiful and fascinating island full of life and history and brilliant photography opportunities. And not to mention the whole food and wine fest!

More about the photos from the job at a later date when they are published but here are some personal images taken during the last few days.

Reportage Photography Fabulous Magazine

A few weeks ago I was commissioned by the good people at Fabulous magazine to photograph a ‘pre-school prom party’ for an article in their magazine about this new mini-phenomenum imported from the States.

It was a strange concept; twenty 4-year-olds dressed in prom dresses and suits, and drinking fruit juices out of plastic cocktail glasses. But the people who ran their nursery in Portsmouth were such genuinely nice people, and all they wanted was the best start for these young children from not-so-privileged backgrounds.

So the article was published today and I was pleased to see a good selection of my photography used for the report. Here are a few.

Arts Foundation 2013 Awards Photos

Last night I had the pleasure to photograph the 2013 awards ceremony for the Arts Foundation which encourages emerging important artists in various fields.

The ceremony was presented by Antony Gormley (famous for amongst other things, the Angel of The North) and was at the amazing offices of the world famous advertising agency Pentagram  in Notting Hill, London.

I love being a photographer in Brighton but sometimes London is so definitely The Place where it ‘happens’!

Here are a few random shots.

Portraits of Lebenshilfe Wekstatt, Munich

The Lebenshilfe Wekstatt in Munich is a workplace for mentally disadvantaged people from 18 years old. It provides meaningful work from all levels depending on their abilities and in an amazing supportive atmosphere. About 400 people are employed there, and will stay there till they retire. Its not residential and they will either live with their parents or a sheltered accommodation or with carers.

I was delighted to be asked to provide portraits for their new website which is now online.

The people there were so charming and welcoming and it was truly one of the most rewarding jobs I have done in a long time.

David Bowie Re-creation Portrait in Brighton

As a photographer in little-ole Brighton I get some fascinating requests. Recently I had to ‘recreate’ the look and feel of the photograph of David Bowie’s 1975 Album cover “Young Americans’ for the writer Jeremy Good as part of his publicity material for his new novel, using the writer as the model.

It was really interesting to be in the studio and work out the photographic lighting used back in 1975 by the original photographer Eric Stephen Jacobs (who apparently based his idea on Bowie’s choreographer, Toni Basil, when she was on the cover of the September 1974 issue of After Dark).

And so the inspiration continues …….

The Circus Project – Brighton Photography

Really enjoyed being the photographer for ‘The Circus Project’ in Brighton this weekend – photographing some promo shots for them from their current show ‘Rolling On The Floor Laughing’. And still amazed with the wonderful Nikon D3s and its ability to capture great photos even with really low light levels of stage and theatre performances. Here teamed with the staggeringly fast Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR2

Elle Decoration Photoshoot

Photographed the amazing ceramic artist Jo Davda recently for Elle Decoration, and just noticed it is now in the latest May edition. This was perhaps the second most dusty shoot of my life – every time I put a piece of photography equipment down it got covered in ultra fine ceramic dust…..
