A 41 sec film from Sicily

Just back from working and holidaying in Sicily (see further down for some Black and White images) and – okay so this is a rubbish video as I’m a Brighton photographer not a travel videographer – but I was just walking down this street in Palermo, Sicily and there was some Catholic festival happening and I pushed ‘record’. And for me its the music! This is just what I’d imagined Sicily to be about……

Its only 41 seconds but wait for the band to start playing after the clapping …..

Portrait of Sicily Photography

A few days away from being a busy Brighton photographer to work as a photographer in Sicily (part of a ‘Portrait Of Sicily’ campaign). I managed to grab a day here and there to do some hiking, see the old towns, swim in the sea (it was 30 degrees still!) and eat some amazing food. A week of part work – part holiday.

Sicily is a beautiful and fascinating island full of life and history and brilliant photography opportunities. And not to mention the whole food and wine fest!

More about the photos from the job at a later date when they are published but here are some personal images taken during the last few days.

India 2013 by Bicycle

Just returned yesterday to Brighton from 5 weeks cycling along the coast of Kerala in Southern India. It was just me and Christine, our trusty Thorn Bicycles and my brilliant Panasonic Lumix GH2.

An amazing journey, outrageously hot and humid and fabulously friendly people. Here are just a few shots to give you a taste.

Now back to lots of new photo commissions, studio portraits and some really exciting times ahead.

France Cycling RnR

I decided to to take a break from being a photographer and so just spent the best part of June cycling through France with Christine, from the north coast at St Malo to Bergerac in the Dordogne – about 1200km of eating Goat’s cheese, bread and flies, and camping by rivers. Countless mosquito bites, coffees and beautiful countryside. It was fab to be away in the fresh air without always looking at my watch and rushing around, and getting some serious miles in my legs…..

Hey! And the French were lovely even though my French is more School-Infant than School-Boy.

I took my excellent little Lumix GH2 with the 14mm and 20 mm lenses – nice and light and great quality.

Now back in Brighton to tons of photography work the next couple of months with some great portraits, headshot work and commercial jobs booked in. Already my tan is fading!

Berlin – Photography

Just had a great week in one of my favourite cities, Berlin, which was in the throngs of a superb heatwave. My visit coincided with Mayday – and the famous Kreuzberg ‘anti-everything/smash the system Demo’ – hardcore! Berlin’s such a vibrant, full-on place and as a photographer from little-old Brighton I always love just wandering the streets, snapping away.

The first photo is of the start of the Kreuzberg Demo

Some more Photos from Colombia

Thought I would share some of the photos from my recent Colombia trip. Colombia was an amazing country, with stupendous landscapes, wonderfully friendly people and fab food. And a huge armed police/army presence which definitely made you feel totally safe. Here is a small selection, with some other great photos on an earlier post.
