Actor Headshot Portraits of Kludo White

As a Brighton photographer I love taking actor headshot portraits, in the photographic studio or on location – and especially when the actor in question is someone like the brilliantly entertaining Kludo White.

Kludo, who is an actor, musician, artist and singer based in Chichester, needed to update his photos for Spotlight, his agent and Casting Call Pro and came into my Brighton studio yesterday. Kludo is definitely master of the many faces, and could move from sad to happy to manic to crazed to fun to criminal to cheeky etc within milli-seconds – even my professional Nikon D800 could hardly keep up with him.

I’ve chosen a random 4 headshots for the blog to showcase just a few of Kludo’s many excellent faces.

Brighton Business portraits of Ed Allison-Wright

Ed is one of the directors of Brighton’s Centurion Group, one of the largest property developers in Sussex, and needed some updated business portrait photography for his company website, and to give to the media for editorials.

We photographed Ed in the meeting room of his offices in central Brighton, so he didn’t have to leave the office and could still conduct business up until the last minute before his photoshoot. I set up a small professional photography studio in the meeting room and we then spent 30 minutes getting a wide variety of shots, some more formal and some more casual and relaxed. This really suited Ed, as he could get straight back to work when the shoot was over. As a portrait photographer I often work in this way, and set up a small studio in offices, peoples homes and creative’s work-places.

Ed has asked if he could have his selected images processed in both colour and black and white, and I was happy to oblige. I started my photographic life working with black and white prints in the darkroom but even all these years later it’s still amazing how the ‘feeling’ and ‘atmosphere’ of even a business headshot portrait can be so different in ether medium.

Here are just three portraits from the session, in both colour and black and white so you can see how surprisingly different they look. And for the record, Ed was simply a joy to photograph, and what a brilliant natural smile.

Magazine Editorial Photography for Fabulous Magazine

Two weeks ago the picture editor of Fabulous Magazine called me in my Brighton studio to ask me to photograph a young woman called Claire for their weekly magazine editorial feature ‘It happened To Me’.

Claire was an active 19 year old when she had a massive stroke that left her severely paralysed, but after 3 years of total committed rehab and real hard work, the brilliant and charming Claire is starting once again to lead an active normal life.

It was an interesting day for this Brighton photographer; as I drove from Brighton to Christchurch near Bournemouth for the photoshoot I did something really painful to my back and so spent the 2 hours with Claire in total agony, but I couldn’t really complain seeing how amazing and utterly non-complaining Claire was.

Anyway, my back is fine again, the magazine ran the feature last weekend, and here is the photograph they used.sussex-editorial-brighton-photographer-fabulous

Brighton Twin Headshots – Actors Jake and Josh

Following on from the post showing the actors headshots of Josh and Jake taken in my Brighton studio, here are some of the guys photographed together in the studio.

I think from these headshot portraits you can really see the chemistry between the brothers; they were seriously electric. It was amazing how many great images we produced in a short photoshoot and that is partly down to Josh and Jake being really professional and committed to getting some great images for Casting Call Pro, Spotlight and casting agents, and partly because they are so damn photogenic!

I used a really simple lighting technique for these portraits together with the amazing high resolution Nikon D800 with the razor sharp 70-200mm f 2.8 lens.
